Polyclad Laminates to Expand Elk Grove, Calif. Operation
November 11, 2002 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Londonderry, N.H. -- Polyclad Laminates Inc., a Cookson Electronics PWB Materials & Chemistry business, will invest more than $6 million to expand and advance laminate and prepreg manufacturing at the company's Elk Grove, Calif. facility.
Currently, Polyclad Elk Grove manufactures prepreg materials. The substantial investment will expand the operation's manufacturing capabilities to include laminate materials. Polyclad standard epoxy, halogen-free and polyimide laminates, as well as TURBO CAF resistant laminate and prepreg systems will be fabricated at the site. State-of-the-art clean rooms that will meet Class 1000 standards, vacuum presses, automatic build-up lines and highly automated fabrication equipment will be installed. Completion of the expansion is anticipated in the third quarter of 2003 and is intended to reduce Polyclad's overall operating costs, while improving product quality and consistency.
As part of the expansion plan, manufacturing at the Polyclad Laminates Santa Ana, Calif. facility located at 2720 S. Main St. will be transitioned to the Elk Grove operation over a nine-month period. Once the transition to Elk Grove is complete, Polyclad will continue to manufacture prepregs and maintain a full laminate and bonding sheet service center at its other Santa Ana facility located at 3140 West Warner Ave.
Polyclad Laminates Inc. is a business of Cookson Electronics PWB Materials & Chemistry. The company is one of the world's leading manufacturers of laminates, prepregs and resin coated copper foils used in printed wiring boards.
