Chonglun Fan Appointed Senior Scientist, Enthone Inc.

West Haven, Conn. -- Enthone Inc., a Cookson Electronics PWB Materials & Chemistry business, has appointed Chonglun Fan, Ph.D., senior scientist.
With more than 15 years experience in material science and electroplating, Fan's primary responsibility will be the characterization of material properties and functionality for lead-free, precious and non-precious metal surface finishes used in semiconductor and microelectronics applications. Fan will be located at Enthone's Surface Analysis and Materials Property Laboratory (SAMPL) in Jersey City, N J.
Prior to joining Enthone, Fan was the R&D principal investigator and a member of technical staff with the former Electroplating Chemicals & Services division of Lucent Technologies. While at EC&S, Fan directed the development of nickel plating technologies, surface finishing processes for semiconductor packaging, and characterization of material and functional properties of the surface finishes utilized in electronics and automotive industries.
Fan holds a B.S. in engineering from Beijing University of Science and Technology (China) and a Ph.D. in electrochemical engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). He also worked on electrocatalysis and electroplating as an Invited Researcher/Post-Doctoral Fellow at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal (Canada).
Fan is a member of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society (AESF) and the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA). He was the career development chairman of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), Montreal section. Fan has co-authored more than 50 scientific and technical publications, holds seven U.S. patents and has received three awards for outstanding publications.
