Fall Semester to Begin Soon at IPC Cyber University

Northbrook, Ill. -- IPC -- Association Connecting Electronics Industries(r) announces the fall curriculum schedule for its Cyber University, which offers 14 hours of courses in the School of Business and International Relations and the School of Technology to technical and marketing professionals in the printed circuit board (PCB) and electronics assemblies industries.
The IPC Cyber University allows registered participants to log online and view presentations, listen to the instructors' lecture over the telephone and participate during a question-and-answer session, all from the convenience of their desk or conference room.In the School of Business and International Relations, the first session, "Doing Business in China," will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2002, noon to 2:15 p.m., Central Standard Time (CST). Top consultants with expertise in China will discuss the current climate and business opportunities, the optoelectronics activities and the potential market for PCB manufacturers and laminate suppliers in this growing electronics market.
The IPC PCB Suppliers Council will sponsor "The Market for Embedded Passives" on Thursday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, (CST). "Cyber attendees" will gain a sound foundation on the market and current technology for embedded passives from industry analysts and an understanding of the drivers for this enabling technology from an original equipment manufacturer's perspective.
The third course, "The Secrets of Effective Trade Show Marketing," will be held Tuesday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to noon, (CST). A leading expert on trade show marketing will detail ways to understand the trade show environment, perform audience research, set goals and measurable objectives, plan strategies and tactics, and evaluate performance.
On Thursday, December 5, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., (CST), participants will learn the flip side of the trade show activities coin during "The Secrets of Effective Trade Show Operations." This course will present practical tips on efficient and cost-effective participation in trade shows and provide a step-by-step approach to planning an exhibit before, during and after the show.
Three courses will be offered in the School of Technology. The first, "Implementation of Lead-Free Solder," will take place Thursday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, (CST). This session will include an overview of the lead-free solder issue and IPC's stance regarding the development of a replacement solder, an environmental update on lead-free and an analysis of global lead-free technology developments.
"Substrates: Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) Materials, Processing and Applications" will be presented on Tuesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., (CST). Students attending this session will receive an overview of LCP laminates and learn the latest developments in material characterization, the challenges and successes in PCB fabrication and the potential LCP applications and test requirements.
The IPC PCB Suppliers Council will also sponsor the final course in the School of Technology, entitled "Implementation of Embedded Passives Technology," on Thursday, December 5 from 10 a.m. to noon, (CST). This course builds on the markets and drivers for embedded technology information discussed in the "Market for Embedded Passives" session on November 21, and provides real life examples of how companies are designing and producing embedded passives technology today.
