The presenter also is said to fit onto OEM pick-and-place machines by using the existing feeder interface. This feature eliminates the need for expensive dedicated label placement equipment. Hover-Davis, Rochester, N.Y. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
Noncontact Measuring System
Kestrel two-axis noncontact measuring system is said to combine quality control laboratory accuracy, repeatability and optical quality with ease of use in one low investment system. Incorporating the patented Dynascope optical projection technology reportedly provides high-contrast, high-resolution images of complex parts of various materials. The package also can be linked to external accessories such as a digital camera, video and data printers. Vision Engineering Inc., New Milford, Conn. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
Power Amplifier Test System
A22pa power amplifier test system is a new model of the 84000 RFIC Series that is said to enable RFIC manufacturers to reduce cost of test up to 50 percent on cellular handset power amplifiers. The system's wide range of options allows it to be configured to provide the right test for each application. Furthermore, it can be upgraded with options for changing product mix or other emerging markets. This scalability also is said to ensure a low price for the tester. Agilent Technologies Inc., Loveland, Colo. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
Software Upgrade
Advanced slice resolution (ASR) software upgrade to the company's X-ray system, which provides high-resolution, 3-D images using a process called tomosynthesis, is said to allow users to achieve resolution in the Z-axis depth range of 8 μm and, for certain applications, sharp feature recognition as small as 3 ?m. The upgraded software will be available as an option on all the company's new Visualiser X-ray systems. FeinFocus USA Inc., Stamford, Conn. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
PCBA Inspection System
The S6055 family of AOI inspection systems reportedly offers high speed, inspection efficiency and a user-friendly interface for production-speed inspection of solder connection on PCBAs, as well as solder print inspection and assembly check. Its large board handling capability is built in, allowing a maximum board size of 18 x 20" for single-track systems and 18 x 14" for dual-track systems. A cast aluminum foundation is said to give the system complete stability to operate at high speed, and a performance-proven propulsion system based on synchronized linear motors that deliver five times better definition of the position sensor. Viscom USA, Norcross, Ga. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
X-ray System
XT6600 submicron resolution X-ray inspection system reportedly offers a system magnification up to 5,800X, and features recognition of less than 1 μm over the 458 x 407 mm inspection area. The company's proven X-ray technology and focusing lens design, allied with an optimized image chain, is said to help the X-ray system achieve its high-resolution and magnification levels. The level of inspection analysis also is controlled by the company's operating software, which is driven by a point-and-click interface. Dage Precision Industries Inc., Fremont, Calif. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
Water-soluble Solder Paste
HydroMark 531 all-purpose, water-soluble solder paste is said to provide hours of stable stencil life, tack time and printing characteristics. Features reportedly include improved anti-slump characteristics, along with solderability to a wide range of surface and component lead metallizations, which is said to solve problems caused by slumping, bridging and wetting. Stencil life reportedly measures eight hours (process dependent), and the paste is said to be capable of 60+ minute idle times. Kester Northrop Grumman, Des Plaines, Ill. www.onlinecenter.to/smt.
Dispensing Systems
Pro-Meter VDK dispensing system is said to use compact gear technology to deliver material application. The system is targeted for use in dispensing high-viscosity silicones, butyls, epoxies and hot melt materials in form-in-place gasketing, bonding and sealing operations. The closed-loop, positive-displacement, spur gear pump system also is said to use an encoder-feedback servo drive within the Pro-Meter VDK module. Nordson Corp., Duluth, Ga. www.linecenter.to/smt.
X-ray Inspection System
VJ-1000 inspection system reportedly is equipped with advanced defect recognition (ADR) technology for inspecting small, high-density PCBAs and semiconductor packages. By eliminating the need for manual adjustments of contrast and brightness for different regions of the X-ray image, the ADR software is said to provide higher quality inspection, and reduce costs by decreasing inspection time.
