Xanoptix Inc. Announces Tyco Electronics as Licensee for High Fiber Count MT Ferrule

MT-style connectors meet the increasing demand for parallel optical data transmission by providing a high fiber count in a dense package via an arrayed configuration of the fiber holes. Xanoptix and Tyco Electronics are extending the capabilities of MT-style connectors beyond 12 and 24 fibers, making configurations up to 72 and higher possible. The heart of these connectors is Xanoptix's higher density version of the MT ferrule.
Franklin, Mass. -- The execution of an exclusive lead-free licensing agreement between Cookson Electronics Assembly Materials and the Iowa State University Research Foundation (ISURF) for access to its Sn/Ag/Cu U.S. patent means that, when combined with similar agreements already in place, Cookson can offer worldwide access to all the most significant lead-free solder technologies being considered in the electronics assembly industry.
