Designed for automatic inspection and verification of single- and double-sided circuit boards, the system consists of an X-ray tube with a focal point of 5 µ, thus permitting high direct magnification with good picture definition and a possible image field size up to 8 x 11 mm. The inspection system may be used in stand-alone or in-line operation. Viscom USA, Atlanta, Ga.
Hand-held Dispensing SystemThe MIXPAC hand-held adhesive dispensing system consists of a manual or pneumatic dispensing gun, cartridge and static mixer. The system reportedly increases the user's choice of adhesives for any application by making two-component adhesives as easy to use as single-component adhesives, allowing users to make bonding decisions based on performance rather than application issues. ConProTec Inc., Salem, N.H.
Rework StationThe 1500 Series rework station reportedly is a tools- and hands-free technique that subjects both the top and underside of a board to remote infrared radiation heating. Said to be upgradeable with good levels of process control, the series reportedly accommodates the demands of both new and existing surface mount component packages such as BGAs, microBGAs, CSPs, QFPs, PLCCs, SOICs, standard SMDs, and SMT sockets and connectors. FEATURE PRODUCTVectoral ImagingVectoral imaging (VI) is said to advance accuracy, speed and reliability in PCB component inspection. VI offers fast programming time, accuracy in error detection and low false failure rates, according to the company. The VI process reportedly possesses the ability to adapt to the shape, size and orientation of each component on the board. By analyzing the geometric information from the features (line segments, arcs, circles and angles) and spatial relationships, VI can precisely determine the position of the component on the board, regardless of the component's rotation, size or appearance. VI can accommodate changes in appearances where overlapping parts cause part of a component to be hidden from view. ViTechnology LLC, Haverhill, Mass.
FEATURE PRODUCTUniversal Support SystemProducing single- and double-sided PCBs, the Red-E-Set substrate support system for screen printers claims to reduce setup time by 84 percent. The system uses a spring-loaded pin support system designed to increase throughput, reduce defects and eliminate board flex, and each board reportedly is supported through the entire screen printer cycle. Features include spring-loaded, non-abrasive support pins that lock into place to fit a board's contour for repeat usage, and close spacing of pins which are said to provide maximum support. Polyurethane RollersThe company's new polyurethane rollers reportedly are soft and pliable, used for drying and removing water, liquids and chemicals; cleaning and scrubbing critical substrates; and applying, coating or spreading liquids and solutions evenly. Because of the polyurethane's high-temperature tolerance, these rollers also are said to be suitable for carrier, toner, paper feed and printing roller applications in dry conditions. Low drag and pliability reportedly enable the rollers to help speed production lines in the PCB, LCD, glass and imaging markets. Shima American Corp., Glendale Heights, Ill.
CLEANING MATERIALS & EQUIPMENTPrecision Cleaning AgentsSaid to be easy to use, these two cleaning agents are designed for the removal of all types of flux residues from electronics assemblies in ultrasonic cleaning equipment. VIGON US reportedly is a water-based cleaning agent for the removal of all flux residue types.
