Safety First at IEC
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
NEWARK, N.Y. - IEC Electronics Corp. announced that its manufacturing facilities in Newark, N.Y., and Edinburg, Texas, have both gone more than 500,000 hours without a lost-time accident. The Texas facility, which has approximately 570 employees, has reportedly been totaling up safety hours since January 4, 1999, and now has more than 975,000 hours logged without a lost-time accident. In Newark, about 930 employees have worked since November 1999 without a lost-time accident, passing 500,000 hours.
"Our employees are to be commended for their work ethic," said IEC chairman and interim CEO Russell E. Stingel. "They are not only putting out quality product, but are being careful about their welfare and their fellow workers` well-being. The key to safety success is training and awareness. Corporate safety manager John Kurzejeski and Edinburg safety director Dee Pemberton have done a fine job of educating our employees about workplace safety."
Insurance company Royal & SunAlliance presented IEC with safety awards for both facilities. The awards were given "in recognition of outstanding commitment to safety by both employees and management." Employees at both locations will be honored during a Safety Awareness Day presented by IEC.
