One Electronics Materials Company Acquires Another
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
ROCKY HILL, Conn. - Henkel KgaA, an international chemical company with 56,000 employees in 70 countries headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, assumed ownership of Multicore Solders and all of its global manufacturing and distribution sites. One of Henkel`s subsidiaries is Loctite. At the present time, it is expected that Loctite and Multicore will operate as distinct and separate companies, servicing their customers independently. Cooperation has already commenced in overlapping areas of product development, however, and opportunities will be sought for each company to make use of the other`s sales organizations.
"This new partnership provides benefits for both Multicore and Loctite," said Gordon Arbib, chairman of Multicore Solders. "Together, we will be able to offer our customers a wide range of materials for electronics interconnect and packaging backed up by the resources of one of the world`s largest chemical companies."
James J. Heaton, vice president of marketing for Loctite, agreed, "Loctite is delighted that Multicore`s high-quality solder line has been added to our portfolio of electronics materials. The acquisition broadens our product offering with a line complementary to our existing range and provides a platform for future expansion into the electronics assembly market."
This announcement was made at NEPCON West 2000. Approximately 5,700 attendees assembled in Long Beach, Calif., from March 12 through 16, 2000, to take part in the inaugural IPC SMEMA Council Electronics Assembly Process Exhibition and Conference (APEX). The event encompassed 337 exhibitors covering more than 141,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space. The total number of visitors (attendees and exhibitors) topped 8,800, leading the IPC to declare the first-time event a success for the association and the electronics assembly industry.
"I had the opportunity to walk the show floor each day of the exhibition," said IPC president Dennis P. McGuirk. "I spoke with many attendees and exhibitors and received very encouraging comments about APEX. From all the positive feedback, I believe that our goal to provide a fair, focused and cost-effective show was accomplished."
