Los Angeles/OC SMTA Chapter Donates to Three Charities
September 14, 2015 | Dick Crowe, Burkle NAEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The SMTA Los Angeles / Orange County Chapter has donated the net proceeds from the annual Frank Kurisu Golf Get-Together to two children’s programs: Rising Tide, an after-school program for inner-city children in Long Beach, California; and Totally Kids, a program for medically challenged children in Loma Linda, California. Each received $1,000. This year’s donations were higher than in previous years due to the generosity of the participants and sponsors during the 2015 golf event. Pictured here is the presentation of the check to Rev. Adele Langworthy, Executive Director of Rising Tide, by Palumbo and Penin.
Palumbo said, “Donating 100% of our net proceeds from our golf event provides us an opportunity to give back to our local communities and to help children whenever possible.”
Dick Crowe of Bürkle North America and Scott Penin of Paradigm Manufacturing, co-chairs of the event, agreed that sponsor gifts and a larger number of golfers participating contributed to the increased donation amounts. The Frank Kurisu Golf Get-Together, named for the original event originator, was held at the beautiful Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. This private golf course provides a first-class golf event with exceptionally pristine grounds and a nicely appointed spacious dining room for the dinner held at the end of the event.
