Mexitronica Gets Off to a Strong Start
October 11, 2006 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Guadalajara, Mexico--After three years of lowered participation by both Mexican attendees and overseas exhibitors, Mexitronica 2006 got off to a strong start yesterday. The three-day exhibition runs through Thursday evening.

For the uninitiated, Mexitronica is a unique event. It runs from 4:00-9:00 pm, and is as much a celebration of the Mexican electronics industry as it is a tradeshow. This year that celebration rings true, as the Mexican industry has finally returned to what one leader called "a steady state" of growth.
The exhibition was accompanied by a conference, which brought some of the latest technical developments to this area in its own Spanish language. Several of the speakers we spoke with championed the need for education in Mexican electronics producing regions. They pointed to university partnerships as the only way to ensure quality education for the Mexican engineering community.
For a better idea of what's going on at Mexitronica and the electronics manufacturing industry in Mexico, point your browser to www.realtimewith.com. PCB007 is interviewing Mexican industry leaders and posting those interviews regularly. You can also check out the show floor from 4:00-9:00 via live web cams.
