FSInspection to Participate in the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at productronica 2015
November 4, 2015 | FSInspectionEstimated reading time: 1 minute
FSInspection today announced that it will provide the X-Mag Machine Vision Station in the Hand Soldering Competition presented by IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® in cooperation with productronica 2015. Skilled competitors will demonstrate their soldering skills on Nov. 10–13 in Hall A2, stand 405, as they compete for cash prizes: 1st place — €300; 2nd place — €200; 3rd place — €100; and a coveted spot at the IPC Hand Soldering World Championship at IPC APEX EXPO® in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 15-17, 2016.
The X-Mag Machine Vision Station’s advanced technology and sleek design integrates a high-definition camera and monitor with 16.4" (41.6 cm) of workspace under the camera to offer sharp images at all magnification levels. The auto-focus, tilting camera, with manual-focus override and 330° rotating camera arm, provides exceptional inspection of objects of varied sizes. The X-Mag visual inspection station has adjustable, flexible LED lighting to minimize glare and shadows.
Hand soldering of high density printed boards demands highly skilled operators to ensure a zero-defect soldering process, and this competition will recognize the best skills in hand soldering complex printed board assemblies. Over three days, participants will compete against each other to build a functional electronics assembly within a 60-minute time limit. Assemblies will be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610F Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced and overall electrical functionality of the assembly. IPC-A-610 Master Instructors from IPC licensed master training centers will serve as the judges.
FSInspection’s high-quality, industrial inspection solutions provide greater productivity, improved operator accuracy, and are more ergonomic and cost-effective vs. traditional microscopes. The result is a cost reduction in the overall quality inspection process.
