MIRTEC Europe Hosts Challenge Cup

MIRTEC, “The Global Leader in Inspection Technology,” held the second MIRTEC Challenge Sailing Event in conjunction with the Tamar River Sailing Club of Plymouth. This annual event is sponsored by MIRTEC Europe, which offers the Challenge Shield as well as 1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies for the event. Additionally, there is a donation for charity, and this year the Devon & Cornwall Air Ambulance was chosen by Mike Earp & Ian Cole on Bonn Amie.
The trophy winners were as follows.
- 1st - Steve Thackham & Paul Wright in Amaryllis
- 2nd – Clive Farrant, Claire & Colin Merry in Scirocco
- 3rd - Terry & Lesley Orton in Rumteazer
These skippers were awarded an individual trophy to keep and Steve Thackham took the perpetual Shield to be returned for next year’s event.
MIRTEC Europe President David Bennett commented, “MIRTEC Europe has been based in Plymouth for the last eight years. As a local company we want to encourage and support events such as this. Many of our visitors enjoy the opportunity to have an evening on the sea when they come and visit, so this seems particularly fitting. And as the event allows us to support local charities it is something we are pleased to be involved with.”
