Syrma Technology Launches New Quick Prototyping Service

Syrma Technology has announced the creation of the Zone of Autonomous Creation (ZAC) division, located in their main Chennai manufacturing facility, to support their clients with creating small volume prototypes in a quick and efficient manner. This quick prototyping service enables their co-creation initiative and helps their clients to effectively take concepts and ideas into a physical product that can be tested and put to trial use. It also provides parallel processes to satisfy clients that have shorter lead-time requirements and must test multiple designed components before mass producing a product. The division’s ideal delivery time target for each prototype is 4-6 weeks from its clear order date, up to a third of the amount of time it typically takes to produce a new prototype through a conventional NPI process.
Syrma created ZAC to not only help startups, but also to provide design services to solution providers and other companies that need high-quality prototypes quickly produced at a low to medium volume under a stringent process and quality control environment. Most OEM manufacturers typically shy away from supporting startups due to their financial limitations and lack of product development experience. As a result, startups often depend on foreign EMS partners to create prototypes for them. However, the conversion of a prototype into a commercial model is often difficult for startups due to their limited expertise in product ruggedizing and realization as per global standards. They also face component procurement challenges, resulting from limited procuring and importing experience. As a result, they have a longer lead-time, often up to 10-12 weeks, for developing a new prototype.
This new division aims to deliver shorter prototype lead-times and support for low volume orders with flexibility in design revisions and upgrades to all companies. this division has dedicated state-of-the-art backend lines, a dedicated raw materials store, and a dedicated team that directly reports into Syrma’s business development team. This team has varied experience in process control, quality assurance, procurement, manufacturing, new product introduction (NPI), and testing. For each prototype, they test for manufacturability and mass production via custom-developed functional and system-level testing. They also have access to our global supply chain network to source components at competitive pricing and with quick customs clearance formalities for raw materials due to Syrma’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) location.
“ZAC truly opens a new chapter for us and for our clients to move far beyond just the visualization of an idea but rather quickly make and test their product concepts and ideas. it enables quickly iterations of their designs and make appropriate changes. A small-volume quick prototype run also helps eliminate costly design flaws that might not be evident during an early assessment. ZAC therefore helps our clients optimize the total cost of prototype and also turnaround times,” said Sreeram Srinivasan, Syrma’s CEO.
