Bowman Adds Photo Chemical Systems

Headquartered in Knightdale, NC, with 5 offices serving 13 mid-Atlantic and southeastern states, Photo Chemical Systems specializes in capital equipment and process chemistry for the printed circuit industry.

“PCS has an excellent reputation among board shops, and within the military sector; this makes them an excellent fit for Bowman.  Our five-year plan is to take the lead as America’s leading manufacturer of precision XRF benchtop analyzers; I’m confident PCS will help us achieve that,” said Bowman President, Tom Leone.

“The Bowman XRF line was recommended to us by our largest customer as the most direct – and most cost-effective route to compliance with IPC standards: both the ones that are official now, and the ones that are likely to follow.  We were also impressed that Bowman units are highly suitable for solution testing – an important consideration,” added Photo Chemical President Preston Averette.

Averette believes that, of the 7 models in the Bowman XRF suite, the Model P will be most attractive to the PCS customer base.  “Their P series accommodates a very wide variety of sample sizes, shapes, and quantities, and has a programmable X-Y stage that should be very appealing to operators,” he explains.  Note: The Model P is now available with an SDD (silicon drift detector.)

Printed Circuit Boards: Past the Lobby and Onto the Floor

08/08/2022 | I-Connect007 Editorial Team
There has not been a time in recent memory when the U.S. legislative body is putting as much focus on the microelectronics industries. One bill, the CHIPS Act, was signed into law last year. A new bill introduced this year seeks to allocate funding for printed circuit board fabrication. In this exclusive interview, our team spoke with Travis Kelly, CEO of Isola Group and president of the Printed Circuit Board Association, and U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah), who has co-sponsored the bill now before the House. Travis and Blake both express optimism about onshoring domestic production, but the realities of the legislative calendar may pose some risks.
