SMART Group Elects Bryant as New Chairman
December 11, 2008 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
At a committee meeting held December 3, 2008, Keith Bryant (pictured right), European Sales Manager of Dage X-Ray Systems, was elected Chairman of SMART Group, taking over the position from outgoing Chairman, Paul Salmon (pictured left).
Upon his appointment Bryant said, "It is a great honour to be elected Chairman of such a prestigious organisation, which has been a guiding light to Electronics manufacturing for so many years. Taking the reins at this testing time for our whole industry is also challenging, but I am sure the SMART Group will be an even stronger force to facilitate change and growth.
"I bring a healthy dose of commercialism to the position and plan to broaden the group's appeal, traditionally with a very strong following within the technical areas; I want to reach out to the managers and decision makers. If our industry is to prosper over the next few years, it has to focus on cost effectiveness as well as technology. Starting with the PCB design and going through to product testing and even equipment purchasing, all areas have to be focused on improving quality and yield.
"I plan to do everything possible to add value to being a member of the SMART Group. Our first-rate technical advice forum, outstanding training courses and excellent new web site containing a wealth of easy to access information form the core of our competency. Together with a very active program of events, we will reach out to all areas of our manufacturing base and continue to help them improve their manufacturing processes."
