Rehm Thermal Systems Opens Reflow Applications Center in GA
February 19, 2010 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
ROSWELL, GA — Rehm Thermal Systems moved into a new Applications Center to serve their North America marketplace. Located in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, the new facility is designed to provide the means to characterize users’ convection and condensation reflow processes.
Rehm Thermal Systems has operated directly in North America for more than half of the company’s 20 years in business. The new Applications Center is a continuation of their ongoing global infrastructure growth plan. The company operates facilities in Germany, China, and Russia; and technical support facilities throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
Rehm supplies both convection and condensation soldering systems. “Our new Applications Center will help us enable next-generation reflow processes for our expanding customer base in North America,” commented John Bashe, Rehm GM. “New lead-free conversions and complex, high-thermal-mass products will typically stress traditional reflow processes, necessitating advanced thermal solutions.” Read Parallel Processes: Simultaneous Lead and Lead-free Soldering with a Single Reflow System by Rehm's Hans Bell, Ph.D.
Among the array of equipment and soldering capability on-hand in the new facility is The VisionXP‘s residue management system that combines pyrolysis action mechanisms in the preheating and peak range with cold condensation in the cooling zone. Pyrolysis is the thermally induced decomposition of organic compounds. Complex molecules are broken down into simpler substances with the use of high temperatures (500-900°C) in a largely oxygen-free (anaerobic) environment to avoid burning. In this system, the amount of liquid residues (drip formation in particular) and crystalline residues are drastically reduced. The VisionXP achieves a higher efficiency with increased maintenance intervals.. Rehm Thermal Systems (www.rehm-group.com) is an international supplier to the photovoltaic and electronics industries, specializing in curing, drying and firing technologies as well as convection and condensation soldering.
