Philips Purchases Additional IPTE Test Equipment for LCD
February 17, 2010 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
GENK, Belgium — For the fourth year in a row, Philips in-vested in IPTE N.V. test equipment for its LCD TV production facilities world-wide. Moreover, by bundling all Philips’ needs, Philips General Purchasing (PGP) has helped Philips maintain top product quality and productivity, while benefitting from major volume and standardization cost reductions. IPTE provides high-performance test and automation equipment. Its fixtures and test applications are used for Philips LCD TV production worldwide. Bundling all the needs of the global LCD TV business for testing equipment has allowed Philips to strengthen its relationship with Belgium-based supplier IPTE. Be-tween 2007 and 2009, Philips purchased 500 fixtures from IPTE. Philips has ordered 120 more for 2010. As an independent global partner, IPTE provides production resources and equip-ment such as odd form placers, depaneling systems, marking solutions test equip-ment, and transport and handling equipment for the electronics industry. It designs turnkey systems for all kinds of production, test and further processing of printed cir-cuit boards, as well as board assemblies and final products. With its nine global engi-neering and production facilities – in Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Estonia, Romania and China – IPTE can combine local engineering sites with efficient, cost-effective reproduction. “The service offered to Philips by IPTE has been excellent, and its just-in-time deliv-ery for test equipment is highly reliable,” says Roland de Blauwe, Philips General Purchasing. “To strengthen the relationships between Philips and IPTE, PGP deter-mined to collect all of the needs of the global LCD TV business and present them to the supplier. What’s more, using the same supplier offers the benefit of standardiza-tion of the test equipment. Much can be recycled for the following year, offering addi-tional savings.” IPTE Factory Automation is a supplier of automated production equipment for the electronics industry. www.ipte.com
