New Dispensing Equipment
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 5 minutes
These needles, valves, tips, and related dispensing equipments are available for specialty needs, such as UV block and highly adhesive materials, and for other requirements such as high speed or high precision. Products come from Tridak, MIXPAC, I&J Fisnar, and Techcon.
Positive-displacement Valves with Disposable Fluid Path The Models 340PS and 340PSL positive-displacement dispensing valves are designed for accurate and repeatable fluid dispensing. Both valves offer true positive-displacement operation and incorporate a disposable fluid path from the reservoir to the dispense tip. Sequenced piston actuation within the Model 340 series valves dispenses a consistent shot-to-shot volume regardless of material viscosity or viscosity fluctuation. The positive-displacement valves are effective with materials that are shear sensitive, extremely high or low in viscosity, possess tacky or stringy characteristics, or have drifting viscosities due to limited pot life. The valves are available in the 340PS and the 340PSL models. The 340PS suits shot volumes from 0.004 to 0.180 mL. The 340PSL offers larger shot size capability, up to 1.200 mL. Both valves are available with polyurethane, flexible polyethylene, or Teflon tubing. This series uses proprietary over-stroke adjustment to prevent premature tubing wear. Tridak Applications Engineering should be contacted to determine a tubing material that is best suited for an application. The Model 340 Series positive-displacement valves must be actuated with a Tridak Model 340 valve controller. This controller is specifically programmed to initiate the proper piston sequencing to produce positive-displacement dispensing. With minor factory modification, these dispensing valves can be gang mounted for multi-component dispensing. Tridak, a DYMAX company, www.tridak.com.
Needle Valve for Low-viscosity FluidsThe Model 765 needle valve delivers consistent fluid volume deposits with low-viscosity materials. This valve dispenses non-reactive adhesives, silicone oils, inks, and solvents, and can be used in processes such as device assembly, packaging, optics assembly, and building PCBs. The needle valve offers low maintenance and precision flow control, suiting high-speed, high-volume, and long-running production. It can be integrated into process automation and robotics. Optimal operation is achieved by using the Tridak Model 345 valve controller for valve actuation. Tridak, www.tridak.com.
Dual-component Material DispensingThe DX dispensing system includes a mobile handheld dispenser with a refill station, providing versatile and accurate two-component material dispensing. The MIXPAC DX System can dispense various ratios for two-component reactive resins. Multiple handheld dispensers can quickly be refilled with one DXR refill station, which uses two transfer pumps that feed from five-gallon bulk containers of material, each equipped with follower plates. The system is lightweight and compact. MIXPAC Equipment Inc., www.mixpacequipment.com.
Meter Mix Dispensing of Dual-component FluidsThe series of Meter Mix solution systems are designed for continuous operation. From micro shots to high-volume applications, whether potting, bead laying, form-in-place, or filling, systems can be configured for any ratio or fluid combination and cost range. Meter Mix units can be simply interfaced to in-line and tabletop robotics. Project engineers can help design a dispensing system. I&J Fisnar Inc., www.ijfisnar.com.
Precision Dispensing Valve The Tridak Model 826 disposable fluid path valve (pinch valve) features adjustable suck-back control to provide clean shut-off for tacky, stringy materials, and prevents material drool from forming at the dispense tip with low viscosity fluids. The Model 826 pinch valve also features disposable fluid path technology to protect fluids from contamination and air entrapment and enable fast materials changeover. The fluid tubing is easily replaced, available in two sizes and a variety of materials. The valve technology eliminates seal-kit maintenance. The Model 826 dispensing valve suits all viscosity materials, including those with stringy flow properties. This valve offers flow control and over-stroke adjustment that permit fluid deposits ranging from mL shots to continuous beads. The over-stroke adjustment feature prevents tubing damage. The Tridak Model 345 valve controller is best suited for actuation of this valve. Tridak, www.tridak.com.
Valve Control with Fast CyclesThe model 345 digital valve controller can be used to control any pneumatically operated dispensing valve, including both single and double acting pneumatically operated valves. It has a 0.001 to 10 second cycle time range, settable in 0.001 second increments. This controller’s speed and precise cycling make it suitable for actuating valves in high-volume production processes. The 345 valve controller comes with a multi-color LCD display, front panel selected prime mode, cycle indication, foot switch/remote, and front panel cycle trigger. Tridak, www.tridak.com.
Cartridge MixerThe TS6500CIM Series cartridge mixer provides complete automatic mixing of two-component material filled in a cartridge kit. The mixers accommodate all standard size cartridge kits ranging from 74 to 591 ml and can be used globally with accompanying tools, accessories, and universal power supply. The products are equipped with an automatic fluid level sensing device and user-friendly electronic control system. An automatic injection feature provides even distribution of hardener into resin during the mixing cycle to ensure a uniform mixed result. The high torque motor maintains speed to allow for the continuous mixing of high-viscosity material. Safety features include a two-hand start, emergency stop button and required closing of the protective enclosure to ensure maximum protection for operators. The TS6500CIM Series cartridge mixer is supplied with power cord, air filter with air hose and is available in two models: TS6500CIM-6 for cartridge kit sizes of 74, 6177, 237 ml and the TS6500CIM-20 for 591ml. A conversion kit is also available for the 325-ml cartridge kit size. The TS6500CIM Series cartridge mixer meets international EMC/safety requirements and has CE, cTUV-us marks. Syringe BarrelsThe 700 Series Premier Dispensing Syringe Barrels feature the same look, fit and function as a recently discontinued industry-standard syringe, with a substantial cost savings. Techcon’s 700 Series is a drop-in replacement. The barrels are silicone- and chloride-free, made from low friction polypropylene. The 700 Series barrels feature a double Helix Luer lock for secure dispense tip attachment, and are available in three colors: natural for most generic applications; amber to provide protection of UV/visible light block (up to 520 nm), but with the ability to see material inside the syringe barrel; and black for total light block. Techcon Systems certifies that the 700 Series syringe barrel meets or exceeds ASTM and industry standards, as tested in laboratory conditions in the areas of accuracy and repeatability, burst strength, impact resistance, low-temperature storage, and UV block capability. Techcon Systems, a product group of OK International, www.techconsystems.com.
Teflon® Lined Series TipsTeflon lined tips suit use with low viscosity fluids and Cyanoacrylates (super glue) material. The tip resists Cyanoacrylate clogging and prevents damage to substrates. It also features a double helix Polypropylene color hub and a rigid Teflon crimped lining that projects approximately 1/8″ from the inside of a stainless steel tube. The tips are compatible with a range of fluids and are composed of silicone-free materials. The tips also are rated industrial-grade safe up to 100 psi and are available in bulk quantity and packs of 50 pieces. Techcon Systems, www.techconsystems.com.
