OEM Partnership Enhances MES
February 21, 2008 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
BROMONT, Canada Cogiscan Inc. and Kratzer Automation AG (Germany) entered into a OEM reselling agreement and partnership to integrate Cogiscan RFID tracking and traceability technology into Kratzer's EMS-focused products, including the intraFACTORY manufacturing execution system (MES).
The closed-loop RFID and barcode data acquisition technology will improve overall MES and ERP system performance, according to Peter Erhard, business manager, industrial automation, Kratzner. It will eliminate the majority of manual barcode scanning and associated human error. The Cogiscan RFID products also show potential for setup management and material logistics, he added. The goal of the partnership is to make data for traceability and material consumption tracking more accurate.
Kratzer will offer Cogiscan's range of RFID Smart Feeder systems for Juki, Fuji, Siemens, Universal, and other placement equipment. They also will provide other RFID tags and readers for process equipment and tooling, such as screen printers. This system will transfer real-time data from these systems into the factory-wide process control system.
