Palomar Partners with Vision for PWB and SMT
December 11, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
CARLSBAD, Calif. Palomar Technologies partnered with Vision Manufacturing, Inc. (VMI Vista, Calif.), to add printed wiring board (PWB) and SMT services to its Palomar Microelectronics process development, prototyping, and low-volume assembly services.
Palomar Microelectronics customers can forward PWB drawing files, which Palomar will use to coordinate with VMI for parts procurement and complete SMT assembly and inspection. The assembled parts are then returned to Palomar for microelectronic packaging assembly, test, and shipping. Microelectronic assembly processes include advanced wire bonding; gold ball bumping; and precision component placement for packages, high-power LEDs, MEMS devices, microwave and RF components, optoelectronic packages, multichip modules (MCMs), and hybrids.
Both Palomar and VMI fit the assembly niche of combining surface mount with chip and wire for prototyping and low volume, said Steve Truong, president and founder of VMI, adding that their partnership is a way to reduce risk and simplifie scheduling. VMI was established in 2000 and offers design and manufacturing services in a total solution platform for new product development.
Palomar Microelectronics global value-added microelectronic packaging service is facilitated through Palomar offices in the U.S., Germany, and Singapore. For more information on Palomar Technologies and Palomar Microelectronics, visit www.palomartechnologies.com. For more on VMI, see www.vmimfg.com.
