Astronics AES Implements Omnify PLM
December 4, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
ANDOVER, Mass. Astronics AES will streamline product development and improve production using Omnify product life-cycle management (PLM) software. Astronics produces more than 100 electronic products for commercial, military, and aerospace platforms.
Each product the electronics manufacturer produces has its individual processes and workflows, with more thanr 20,000 parts in use. Astronics cited growth and company positioning in its markets as reasons to implement a PLM system. Accurate product data and tighter collaboration between design and manufacturing were key.
Omnify's PLM is a robust system, interfaces to our Intuitive ERP system, and offers technical support, said Marty Jeide, program manager for Astronics AES. The company established a controlled environment to manage all product data and implement formal processes via Omnify. The ability to automatically upload design data to Astronics' Intuitive ERP system and ensure all team members have access to accurate data reportedly prevented late-stage rework issues. Omnify also facilitates Astronics AES's ISO and FAA qualifications, enabling them to store, track, and report data required by these regulations.
Astronics AES will expand their use of Omnify to track capital equipment, personnel data, and training certificates with the project, quality/CAPA and training requirements management functionality in Omnify's Empower product.
