Lightspeed Expands Mass. Facility
September 21, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
METHUEN, Mass. Lightspeed Manufacturing enlarged its manufacturing and engineering square-footage by one-third, adding a shipping dock, advanced documentation station, and other work areas. The company cites increased order volume and growth in new orders as impetus for the expansion.
Sales increased 100% in 2006, according to Rick Breault, president. The company required additional service area for its Lightspeed Mobile service as well, which provides portable rework and assembly services to customer's facilities. Loading, unloading, and servicing the transport equipment necessitated additional floor space, Breault explained.
An advanced documentation station was added to allow the EMS provider to track customers' products and technology changes. Production equipment (Lightspeed acquired a third SMT line in 2006) and an advanced BGA workstation also use the additional space.
