Endicott Interconnect Lands PCB Contract
August 24, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ENDICOTT, N.Y. Raytheon Company's Space and Airborne Systems partnered with Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EI), for a multi-year PCB production contract. EI will supply PCBs for the common integrated processor (CIP) unit in F-22 Raptor airplanes. This is EI's first contract with Raytheon.
The CIP, which controls communications, navigation, identification, electronic warfare, radar, and sensor-fusion functions on the military aircraft, necessitates a high-yield production process. It is also a dual-metallurgy design, incorporating gold plating and solder on the same plane. This initial contract with the aerospace and defense segment of Raytheon will encompass production, service, and technical support, said James J. McNamara, president and CEO, EI.
The avionics system performs ground and air attacks, stealth electronic warfare, signals intelligence, and other roles for the U.S. military. Reliability and life-cycle requirements are stringent with military aircraft, and were included in the qualification process for EI. Raytheon's McKinney, Texas; and El Segundo, Calif., locations selected and approved EI for the contract, added Eric Hills, director of military and defense programs, EI.
