EMS Hub at Productronica
July 19, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
MUNICH, Germany Productronica 2007, November 1316 in Munich, will recognize the growing importance of the EMS industry with "EMS Village," a focused product exhibit area, networking platform, and EMS gathering spot in Hall A6. The number of exhibitors in the EMS area will be 25% higher than in 2005, with Sanmina-SCI, VOGT electronic, and Schlafhorst Electronics among those featured at the "village." At Productronica Forum, research and industry specialists will discuss EMS economic and technological trends.
EMS Village will showcase placement technologies, production logistics, and material-flow engineering, and will act as an information and communication area linking EMS providers, system suppliers, and contract electronics manufacturers (CEMs) with OEMs.
Productronica attributes European EMS growth, despite Asia's dominance in some markets, to a mix of services, proximity to customers, collaboration with facilities in lower-cost manufacturing regions, and capacity for demanding production and product-development projects. The European EMS industry grew 17.3% from 2005 to 2006, hitting $25.1 billion, according to research firm iSuppli Corp. It could reach $33 billion in 2007, representing 15.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
