Rework System Fits Oversized Boards
March 28, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SEYMOUR, Conn. The ONYX25XLT system from Air-Vac suits rework and hand assembly of extra-large boards, such as backplanes and mainframe computers. It features an oversized bottom heater; moving solder head; and automation, cleaning, and vision systems.
The proprietary radiant infrared (IR) bottom preheater measures 32" × 24" with six independent zones and 15,000-W power. Open-machine construction and a moveable solder head allow positioning in the X space without disturbing the board. The rework system incorporates four motorized axes, graphics-based software with step-by-step prompts, and a proprietary non-contact site-cleaning solution for ease-of-operation. A multiple field-of-view (FOV) vision system with motorized zoom lets operators examine small components or obtain corner views of components up to 70 mm.
