Software Upgrade Improves DfF
March 9, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
WILSONVILLE, Ore. Mentor Graphics Corporation released the next generation of PADS flow for layout designers and engineers, PADS2007. The RF/microwave design software includes improvements to design for fabrication (DfF) checks, automated functions, and high-speed analysis and verification.
A new library structure and direct drawing exchange format (DXF)-to-decal-editor solve alphanumeric translation issues and allow users to import radio frequency (RF) modeling directly into the decal editor. An updated RF module allows trace manipulation for RF circuits, square and chamfered corners, automated via shielding for sensitive traces, and other automated tasks.
Routing updates offer improved controls for matched length nets and differential routing. Designs with partial vias (blind or buried) are updated automatically with layer pairs and drill count of the partial vias in the design. Alphanumeric pin upgrades are said to simplify creation of large, BGA-based parts; users control pin number visibility. Mentor's DxDesigner and Hyperlynx LineSim tools are integrated for signal integrity (SI) analysis; an analog simulation tool provides board-level simulation analysis and verification using a common schematic editor.
