Printing Systems Intro at APEX
February 22, 2007 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
LOS ANGELES Stencil and screen printing innovations at APEX highlighted in-line and stand-alone options, servo-controlled drives, and increased automation. Following are the products showcased by Exerra, ESSEMTEC, Ovation, etc.
Israeli equipment supplier Exerra debuted the eP series of in-line and stand-alone stencil and screen printers at Booth 2758. eP33 and 35 printers offer mono-block casting and a two-stage, servo-driven granite table with a digital drive system. In-process monitoring, programmable squeegee-pressure control and proprietary 2D&D print quality inspection allow control and automation. Exerra also introduced its North American operations, based in Alpharetta, Ga., at APEX, with Ian Fleck appointed general manager.
The Magna-Print SMT squeegee holder system from Bethlehem, Pa.-based Ovation Products was showcased at Booth 1765. The universal-fit hold uses magnets and other features, eliminating tools and loose hardware in squeegee changeover. A non-stick coating and smooth shape are said to ease cleaning.
ESSEMTEC, with U.S. headquarters in Glassboro, N.J., added trans-stencil vision to its SP003. The SP003-ML-V, at Booth 2259, controls squeegee pressure and angle, print speed, positioning, and separation post-print, along with the vision system for alignment control. It is available with vacuum, groove, flat, or magnetic table. The system suits small to medium production.
For stencil inspection, Tamura H.A. Machinery, Inc. (San Diego) exhibited the TPC series solder print inspection system at Booth 1145. The series uses a 3-D measurement technique and twin lamps. When opposing illumination is eliminated, the system reportedly eliminates all blind spots. It includes an LED dome lamp for 2-D inspection on mass production lines and low-cost applications.
