Work Cells Suit Odd-form, Final Assembly
December 8, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. The AOM-700 work cell from PROMATION, Inc., was introduced for pick-and-place of odd-form components. The system picks from a tube- or bowl-feeder system using gantry robots with X/Y/Z axes and an inline conveyor.
The work cell is said to replace manual placement of odd forms during production, according to the company. Connectors and other odd forms are placed on PCBs with positive location/clamping identification. Picking-head selection is programmable, and a rotating head offers various grippers and flexible positioning. The cell's grippers can place up to three components simultaneously. The work cell incorporates a component-reject cup for faulty or suspect components.
PROMATION also released the AST-700, a bottom-side screw-fastening work cell, with similar mechanical features and options.
