More ATExpo Product Highlights
December 31, 1969 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Following is a highlight of products to be featured at the 2006 Assembly Technology Expo, co-located with SMTA International in Rosemont, Ill., September 26 28. Check out SMT's September issue for more products, and look for more previews on our Website, leading up to the show.
Assembly PlatformThe modular product-assembly platform Smartpod specifically suits electronic component assembly. Onboard modular software controls reprogramming, which can be accomplished in less than 15 minutes, while operating, according to the company. Pod shaped, the enclosed module is manufactured from stainless steel and aluminum, in 4.14 × 2 × 2 m standard size; additional modules can be attached. The platform offers access to assemblies and tooling, and may be designed fully-tooled or un-tooled, depending on the applications. AGR Automation Ltd., Arbroath, Scotland, www.agr-automation.com. Visit AGR at Booth #118.
SqueegeesRe-engineered to incorporate an updated holder design that fits variations in SMT equipment, the entire line of Permalex Edge Metal Squeegees will be presented at ATExpo. The Permalex Paste Manager, which was released for two mainstream inline printer platforms, will also be demonstrated throughout the show. Transition Automation, Inc., North Billerica, Mass., www.transitionautomation.com. Visit Transition Automation at Booth #5218.
Conveyor SystemThe QuickStick linear synchronous motor (LSM) solution offers an alternative to belt- and chain-based conveyor systems. The technology is based on electromagnetic, rather than mechanical, transportation. LSM conveyors move payloads bi-directionally at various speeds, and delivers to multiple locations, following guideways of any length. The system was designed for assembly automation and material handling. MagneMotion, Acton, Mass., www.magnemotion.com. Visit MagneMotion at Booth #1650.
High-speed ChipshooterThe FX-1RL chipshooter was designed for high-speed component centering and increased throughput. The system, operating on two independent linear motors, features two quadruple heads with multi-nozzle-alignment systems. Proprietary laser technology guides alignment by measuring component dimensions in-flight. The shooter places components from 0201 to 11 × 26.5 or 20 × 20 mm at 27,000 cph and ± 40µm (3 Sigma). The machine operates with high rigidity, low vibration, and a tape-feeder trolley designed for 30 sec. changeovers. Juki Corporation, Morrisville, N.C., www.jas-smt.com. Visit Juki at Booth #5034.
