Spliceable Feeders Support High-speed Placement
August 7, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. The Gold spliceable tape feeders from Universal Instruments offer continuous splice capability. The feeders support high-speed chip placement machines, line-level reporting, and traceability functions.
A tuned electric drive system enables use of the company's Lightning rotary-motion placement head with the feeders. The 8- and 12-mm feeders also feature registration marks, and the product line includes a part set-up validation (PSV) sensor that notifies machine and line software of changes. Other features, such as high torque mode (HTM), are available with 16- to 32-mm feeders. The feeders are said to complement the company's mid-range Black family, offered with AdVantis platforms. "AdVantis users focus on higher-volume, mid-range production," noted Jeroen Schmits, president of Universal.
