MENLO PARK, Calif. — A series of compact RoHS-compliant PolySwitch surface mount DC-DC converters (SMDCs), surface mount device (SMD) terminals, and polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) devices from Raychem Circuit Protection, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, provide resettable overcurrent protection in space-critical applications. The devices are suitable for automotive PCB traces, motors, harnesses, chargers, hands-free applications, and multimedia input ports.

The devices are available in voltage ranges of 6 to 60 V, and hold-current ratings from 50 mA to 2.6 A. The SMD terminals are available in standard 1206 to 3425 sizes. Smaller sizes are in development. The devices are compatible with industry-standard installation procedures in tape-and-reel packaging for high-volume manufacturing.
