April 7, 2006 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
MINNEAPOLIS — May is a busy month for the SMTA with two upcoming events: the Medical Electronics Symposium, slated for May 15–17 in Bloomington, Minn., and the "Rapid Implementation of WEEE and RoHS Compliant Assembly Workshop," May 18th, in St. Paul, Minn.
Featuring technical sessions, a half-day workshop, plenary sessions, and tabletop exhibits targeting the medical electronics industry, the Medical Electronics Symposium will cover current and future outlooks, application cleanliness, business challenges, sensors/MEMS, material and component reliability, product technology, product assembly, lead-free, and process and cost improvement projects. An afternoon tabletop exhibit on May 16th will feature SMTA supplier members' products for the medical electronics sector. For an exhibitor list, please click here. For more information, or to register, please visit www.smta.org/education/symposia/symposia.cfm#medical.
Falling on the heels of the Medical Electronics Symposium, SMTA's "Rapid Implementation of WEEE and RoHS Compliant Assembly Workshop," intends to help companies develop a plan for WEEE/RoHS compliance. Led by Ron Lasky, Ph.D., PE, and Timothy Jensen, both of Indium Corporation of America, the full-day workshop will highlight the compliance protocol for WEEE/RoHS, helping companies develop compliance plans and clarifying the Directives with current information. Medical device concerns will also be of focus. Please visit www.smta.org/education/academy/academy.cfm#lead-free_workshop for more information, or to register.
