Cobar CEO Honored with IPC Service Award
February 14, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Eli Westerlaken, CEO of Cobar Europe, has nabbed a Distinguished Committee Service Award by the IPC–Association Connecting Electronics Industries for his contribution to the development of the IPC standard J-STD-006B, "Requirements for Electronic Grade Solder Alloys and Fluxed and Non-Fluxed Solid Solders." The award was presented at last week's APEX/IPC Printed Circuits Expo/Designers Summit show in Anaheim.
This standard prescribes the nomenclature, requirements, and test methods for electronic-grade solder alloys; for fluxed and non-fluxed bar, ribbon, and powder solders, for electronic soldering applications; and for "special" electronic-grade solders. This standard is one of a set of three joint industry standards that prescribe the requirements and test methods for soldering materials for use in the electronics industry: IPC/EIA J-STD-004 Requirements for Soldering Fluxes; IPC/EIA J-STD-005 Requirements for Soldering Pastes; and IPC J-STD-006 Requirements for Electronic Grade Solder Alloys and Fluxed and Non-Fluxed Solid Solders for Electronic Soldering Applications.
"This certainly could not have happened without the many hours of hard work and talent that our engineering team put into this project," says Westerlaken. "I'm pleased to accept this award, but on behalf of our team members. It really belongs to them."
