December 21, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
TIMISOARA, Romania — Solectron Corporation has established a Design and Engineering Services Center in Timisoara, Romania, to focus on providing advanced collaborative design and engineering services to the company's customers worldwide. Core capabilities of the center will include electrical and mechanical design, advanced process technology, test development and failure analysis.
Creating a design center in Europe is a core element of Solectron's global design and engineering strategy. Timisoara also offers Solectron high levels of technical abilities — from within the company and from Timisoara's Technical University. Mike Cannon, president and CEO of Solectron, as well as other senior management representatives, attended the opening of the design center.
"With the addition of the Design and Engineering Services Center, Timisoara is now a full-service manufacturing center in Europe," notes David Purvis, executive vice president and chief technical officer, Solectron. "The proximity to our customer base, highly competitive cost structure and a strong local pool of technical talent all point to Timisoara as an excellent choice and a formidable capability in our future design and engineering services portfolio."
