July 19, 2005 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Effective June 27, 2005, Universal Instruments Corp. (UIC) appointed Eric Kan to vice president for Asia, aiming to extend their presence in the expanding Asian marketplace. Asia, particularly China, has been of high strategic importance to UIC's future growth strategy. This appointment will increase the level of local executive authority for the company in Asia, safeguarding and driving its future development.
Based out of Shekou, Kan will assume direct line management responsibility for all Asian functions incorporating sales, service and manufacturing operations. Kan, a U.S.-educated Taiwanese engineer-turned general manager, exhibits expertise in industrial and technical sales, marketing, product development, finance and human resources. Kan will report directly to UIC president Ian deSouza, and will also join the company's executive committee.
Previously, Kan held the position of managing director for the Asian operations of U.S. engineering and service company, Welding Services Inc. Prior to this, he also held general management and executive positions with ABB and Honeywell in China, the U.S., Taiwan and Singapore.
