BANNOCKBURN, Ill. — With the July 2006 deadline looming less than one year away to meet RoHS compliance, IPC —Association Connecting Electronics Industries is helping the industry to aid the transition in meeting these compliance requirements through a Webcast series.
The series is as follows:

July 21: How to Comply with RoHS. Led by a member of the U.K. Department of Trade & Industry, this Webcast will cover background on the Directive; approaches for demonstrating compliance; the impact on suppliers; and what can be expected once the regulations are in effect.
July 28: Standards Activity - IPC-1752. Participants will hear an update on materials declaration standards activity. With materials declaration requests rapidly multiplying, understanding the new PDF reporting form and hearing how the standard pilot program was executed will help position each participant when collecting, tracking and disclosing product material content.
August 4: Implementing Materials Declaration. This webcast will offer several solutions for supply-chain management strategies. Concepts provided will permit each company to choose the best "recipe" for their business model.
August 11: Test Methods for Determining RoHS Substances in Electronics. This Webcast will present the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) draft standard on test methods for regulated substances in electrical, electronic and electrotechnical products. It will discuss the test procedure flow and the test methods proposed. Participants will gain an understanding of how to set up a testing program.
August 18: Implementing Electronic Materials Data Exchange. This Webcast takes participants from the original data models used in the development of the IPC-175X standards.
