Kimball Electronics to Purchase Aegis Software Modules
May 2, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
PHILADELPHIA — Kimball Electronics Group, an EMS company with divisions worldwide, will procure Aegis NPI and MES software modules for all of its divisions, with the goal of integrating all operations at their headquarters in Jasper, Indiana. Another goal is to expand the software interface to their divisions worldwide, creating a seamless, Web-centric platform for all operations control, programming and data interface.
"We're beginning an international rollout," states Greg Carmer, CAD/CAM engineering and document-control manager at Kimball. "We have plants in Poland and Thailand and Mexico, two plants in Jasper and one in Auburn, Indiana. We're 'going live' with the software in Thailand by the end of June, following the successful implementation at Poland in March. We're doing a phased approach to the software, choosing those plants that would most benefit from the capabilities—the ones that have the most urgent business needs. The goal is to be totally 'live' with the capabilities to use the Aegis software in all of our plants within one year, and then add additional capabilities over the next three years."
Kimball has selected Aegis CircuitCAM, CheckPoint, Fusion iServer and iView modules with multiple machine interfaces for this project, first implementing CircuitCAM and CheckPoint to standardize production lines in the main facility, while simultaneously using iView to create a paperless manufacturing communication environment. The next step will be moving these capabilities out to each plant around the world, working toward a completely Web-centric, global, paperless manufacturing and communications network.
Carmer says, "Those are the two goals that we're focusing on right now. Once we get those throughout the world, then we'll look at using additional Aegis capabilities to further enhance our productivity. We see this as a long-term partnership with them to provide the business solutions that Kimball Electronic Group needs. We're excited about our future with Aegis."
