Xilinx K.K. Appoints New President
April 12, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Xilinx, Inc. has promoted Hitoshi Yoshizawa to president of the company's Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan subsidiary, Xilinx, K.K., from his current position as director of sales for the consumer- and industrial-market segments. He succeeds Motihiro Kitajima, who will continue as chairman of the board for Xilinx, K.K. The appointment will become official when the annual Xilinx, K.K. board meeting and general meeting of stockholders takes place on May 27.In his new role, Yoshizawa will strengthen the long-term service and support structure for Japanese customers at Xilinx, K.K. as a key strategy for expanding adoption of the company's programmable logic and system-level solutions. The October 2004 foundry agreement between Xilinx and Toshiba is symbolic of the investment Xilinx is making in the Japan market to ensure a steady supply of Xilinx products for delivery to customers worldwide, especially in Japan."I'm honored to assume a greater role in paving the future for Xilinx in the Japan market at such a pivotal time for the electronics industry," adds Yoshizawa. "Our customers are facing ever-growing demand for shorter development and product lead times, small-lot production of a wider range of different product items, higher functionality and lower prices. The price, performance and flexibility benefits of FPGAs and CPLDs are ideally suited to meet these demands. Our intention is to complement our silicon, software and IP solutions with services that are increasingly fine-tuned to meet customer needs, and to contribute to the expansion of their businesses in Japan."Yoshizawa brings more than 30 years of experience in the electronics industry to his new position at Xilinx, K.K. Prior to joining Xilinx, he served in a variety of executive positions with NEC Corp. from 1972 to 2003 in Japan and the U.S. His most recent position was general manager of the ASIC business units for NEC Electronics, Inc. Prior to that, his experience at NEC Corp. spanned positions in semiconductor EDA development, ASIC customer field support and business development within the ASIC and Communication ASSP. Since April 2002, he ran ASIC business units as general manager.
