NVision Appoints New Director of Business Development
February 3, 2005 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
SOUTHLAKE, Texas — NVision, supplier of laser scanners used for reverse engineering and quality control, has appointed Giles Gaskell as director of business development. Gaskell will be responsible for expanding the company's business beyond its traditional base in the automotive, aerospace and industrial design sectors to new industries such as oil and gas, electric power generation, gas turbines, industrial machinery, and others.
"Up to now, our company has focused on several industries that offer very large markets for laser scanning," says Gaskell. "Now we have added the people and resources needed to bring the benefits of laser scanning to a broader range of markets. For example, laser scanning can provide a more accurate assessment of the condition of oil and gas pipelines, as required to meet recent regulations. It can inexpensively and accurately provide thickness measurements and identify tiny pinholes."
Gaskell came to NVision from 3D Scanners UK Limited, a supplier of laser scanners in the U.K., where he also held the same position. He was one of the founders of 3D Scanners, and helped to build the business from zero to $3 million in three years. Prior to that, he was a sales representative for Parametric Technology Corporation in the U.K. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Aston University in Birmingham, U.K., and is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
