Advantest Names MetriTest as its Distributor for Electronic Measuring Instruments in the U.S. Market
April 14, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Santa Clara and Hayward, Calif. — Advantest Corp. announces that MetricTest has been named its authorized distributor of electronic measuring instruments in the U.S. market.
MetricTest has begun selling instruments for Advantest America Measuring Solutions (AAM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Advantest America Corp., to an even broader region by leveraging MetricTest's far-reaching sales network that extends throughout the United States.
In July 2002, Advantest Corp. established AAM in Edison, N.J., to provide customers, who are leaders in advanced communications technology, with comprehensive sales and support services for Advantest's electronic measuring instruments in North America.
Although the U.S. communications industry has experienced a downturn since the information-technology bubble burst in 2001, increasing use of high-speed wireless communication and third-generation mobile communication has started to gain momentum. In addition, with a growing selection of Internet content, broadband communication — including optical technologies — has started to become widely used in ordinary households. Further, research and development in next-generation communication technologies, such as fourth-generation mobile communication and fifth-generation wireless communication, is active. Given these factors, demand for communications-related measuring instruments for use in development and production is expected to grow even more.
By transferring the sales of its electronic measuring instruments in the U.S. market to MetricTest, Advantest will be able to respond to a wide range of customer needs through MetricTest's broad sales and distribution network. Furthermore, AAM will concentrate on marketing activities that are related to more advanced technologies, allowing Advantest to continue innovating cutting-edge communications technology.
