Indigo Systems Employees' Gifting Program Offers $90,000 to Area Non-Profits
February 27, 2004 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Goleta, Calif. — Indigo Systems' fifth annual "Celebration of Giving" netted nearly $90,000 to local, regional and national non-profit groups.
The recent afternoon reception at a local venue brought 45 charities together to receive contributions from Indigo Systems' employees, who participate in a year-long gifting program. The employees' gifts are matched in kind by the company, which in turn makes a generous donation to the United Way. Paul Didier, director of the Santa Barbara chapter of United Way, accepted a check this year totaling $40,117. The total amount of funds raised since the program's inception has reached over $247,000.
Charities represented at the wine and hors d'oeuvres event included:
- Make-A-Wish Foundation
- Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's 3-Day Walk
- Santa Barbara Meals on Wheels
- South Coast Community Aquatic Center
- Transition House
- Heal the Ocean
- Pastors to Prisoners
- Cottage Hospital's Neo-Natal Center
- Hope Elementary
- Kellogg, Mountain View and Hollister School PTAs
- Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network
- American Red Cross
- Child Protective Services
- Cancer Center of Santa Barbara
- AYSO
- Lompoc Boy Scouts of America.
Many other activities that benefit non-profit groups are ongoing at Indigo Systems, such as the 30-employee fundraising bicycle team for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The "Pennies from Heaven" program collects loose change from employees throughout the year for the "Toys for Tots" program and to purchase canned goods for the Unity Shoppe.
