Elcoteq to Start Personnel Negotiations Concerning Relocation of Espoo Plant Manufacturing
January 13, 2004 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Helsinki, Finland — Elcoteq has invited personnel representatives from its Espoo plant in Finland to negotiations concerning the relocation of the plant's manufacturing activities and the related impact on personnel.
The Espoo plant is a former Tellabs International's plant, which Elcoteq acquired at the end of 2003. Currently the plant, which employs more than 200 people, operates in Tellabs' premises in Espoo, but the companies have agreed that Elcoteq will re-ocate manufacturing by the end of August 2004.
Elcoteq's Espoo plant manufactures digital optical cross-connection products and broadband access systems for Tellabs International. Tellabs expects this outsourced manufacturing to give it clear cost advantages.
Elcoteq Network Corp. is one of the largest electronics manufacturing services (EMS) companies in the communications technology field. For more information, visit www.elcoteq.com.
