Microplastics Introduces Rapid Program Development Capabilities for Prototyping

St. Charles, Ill. — Microplastics Inc. introduces its new Rapid Program Development capabilities for bringing new designs to market faster and reducing program schedule times by up to 50 percent.
Rapid Program Development reportedly will make the prototyping process more efficient than traditional methods and more valuable to customers with quicker turnaround time. Initial collaboration on product design, from simple to highly complex products, eliminates costly and time-consuming re-tooling during the prototyping process. The need to wait on the completion of final tooling to begin the initial production run is also eliminated.
Rapid Program Development uses Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), a state-of-the-art system that develops tooling to produce hundreds to thousands of high-quality prototype parts. CAD designs are fed into the SLS system, which controls a laser that fuses powdered nylon or A6 steel material into virtually any shape, regardless of complexity. The prototypes have the mechanical properties, strength and resolution that make them suitable for design testing validation. Additionally, completion of a fully functioning plastic prototype reportedly can take as little as four hours, from receipt of CAD data to part in-hand. Once a prototype is approved, Microplastics can enter into the production mold tooling phase.
