Indium Achieves ISO 9001:2000 Status
August 13, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Clinton, N.Y. — Indium Corp. has attained certification to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2000.
This achievement is in effect at all corporate manufacturing facilities worldwide. Having earned their initial ISO certification in 1995, Indium Corp.'s Singapore-, UK- and U.S.-based manufacturing facilities now are all certified to the new standard.
According to QualityDigest.com, of all the U.S.-based ISO 9000-registered companies, only 22 percent have converted to ISO 9001:2000. The deadline for conversion is December 14, 2003.
Indium expects this achievement to manifest itself in many ways. On the supply side, quality, service and delivery will receive even greater scrutiny. All suppliers will continue to be rated for key performance criteria. In addition, enhanced partnerships will be formed as the supplier list is consolidated.
Customers will receive continually improved product quality and service. The design review component of Indium's program will enable greater customer support as the company assists their customers with their future requirements.
Internally, enhanced communications, improved visibility to customer requirements and feedback, and internalized awareness of customer expectations will create a more effective and knowledgeable workforce.
Indium Corp. manufactures electronic and mechanical assembly materials in its Singapore, Milton Keynes, UK and Utica, N.Y.-based facilities. In addition, the company is the world's premier refiner and supplier of commercial and high-purity indium metal and fabrications. For more information, visit www.indium.com.
