Nepcon Shanghai/EMT China 2003 to Proceed as Planned
April 4, 2003 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Shanghai -- Nepcon Shanghai/EMT China will proceed as planned, from April 8 through 11, 2003, at Shanghai Everbright.
There are concerns over the outbreak of atypical pneumonia or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in the region. Nonetheless, a great majority of exhibitors have confirmed their participation. At the same time, Reed Exhibitions has been assured by the Shanghai Centre for Disease Control and Prevention that there is no cause for alarm in Shanghai over SARS.
The Shanghai authorities have not sent out any advisory calling for the Nepcon Shanghai/EMT China 2003 to be cancelled or postponed. In fact, it is very much business as usual in the city. Reed Exhibitions' Sino-Corrugated event that was held from March 26 to 29, 2003, also at Shanghai Everbright, enjoyed a strong attendance.
As a responsible and professional organizer of trade and consumer events, Reed Exhibitions will take additional steps to allay the concerns that some exhibitors have expressed. These measures include the following:
- Face masks will be made available to all exhibitors and visitors throughout the event.
- Medical personnel will be stationed at the event hall.
- Cleaning teams will be deployed several times a day to keep a high standard of hygiene at the venue
- Notices will be posted at prominent locations to highlight WHO guidelines to participants and to provide information regarding the availability of healthcare services, including the location of nearby clinics
- Requests will be made to exhibition venue owners and relevant parties to ensure adherence to all applicable health guidelines and directives
