IMAPS Symposium: Slump Still Underway, but Developments Continue

Denver -- The booth traffic was sluggish, but there was still plenty of interesting technology and business to see at the 35th annual IMAPS microelectronics symposium here. Most exhibitors were not impressed with their collection of new leads -- although at least a few were -- but the general sentiment was that the event was still a useful forum for connecting with existing customers and suppliers. More than one person also guessed that the usual good technical sessions distracted some people from the exhibits. I was actually in a session that had to move to a larger room as it filled up approaching the starting time, so that theory is at least somewhat true.
