ASAT Develops MSL-1 Capability On All Leaded Products; Baking Step Eliminated

Packages that only qualify for MSL-2 have a shelf life of one year and the shelf life for packages with higher MSLs deteriorates significantly. Consequently, the manufacturer often must add a dry-bake or re-bake step in their process. The baking process requires dry bags, trays for baking, moisture indicators, desiccant material, controlled environment storage, and various other logistic challenges including product staging. These processes increase costs as well as cycle time. Products qualified at MSL-1 do not need to go through this process and are immediately usable off-the-shelf.
