Test ContactorNew is the MicroTouch high-performance test contactor for BGA and CSP devices. This new product family is said to use proprietary technologies in a structure that features compliant contacts and elastomer materials for a reliable test interconnect. The short contact length of 1.1 mm reportedly preserves signal integrity and reveals the performance of IC area-array devices. Electrical characterization results at 1.27 mm pitch indicate self-inductance of 0.36 nH and consistent contact resistance readings of 40 to 50 mΩ, the company says. 3M Electronic Handling and Protection Div., Austin, Texas.
Frame GrabberMatrox Meteor-II/Camera Link is a high-speed digital interface for scientific/industrial imaging applications. Developed by a consortium of camera and frame grabber manufacturers, it reportedly provides a simple and standard interconnect between these devices. It is built on Channel Link an LVDS-based high-speed serial transmission technology that delivers transmission rates up to 2.38 Gbits per second over distances up to 10 m (32"). An industry standard cable for video data and device control facilitates the interchange of one device for another; customer cables for digital data are no longer required. Matrox Imaging, Dorval, Quebec, Canada.
Pin, Socket and Terminal InsertersReportedly providing control over pressure, speed and impact, the MD Series pin, socket and terminal inserts offer vibratory bowl feed and pneumatic, pressure-sensitive operation. The inserts can accommodate parts from any supplier, and a standard throat depth of 10" is said to provide ample space for large flat materials. Available in semiautomatic or fully automatic models, the series are available with various options and factory support for special applications. Cambridge Automation, Natick, Mass.
IC Products Data BookThe 2001 Data Book/short form catalog covers the company's recently introduced line of ICs for the rapidly growing communications and broadband Internet markets. The volume includes technical data sheets on products released during the past 18 months, including ICs for optical fiber network equipment, portable communications, embedded modem and digital set-top boxes. A complete listing of worldwide sales and distribution locations is included. A CD-ROM version, with any additional product updates, will be available later this year.
