SMT Vision Award 2000It takes vision to anticipate how technology will change and how products and services must evolve to stay current. Today's best companies seek these future challenges and respond with creativity and innovation. Each year, SMT Magazine recognizes outstanding companies whose products or services in surface mount technology serve as the benchmarks of excellence. We invite you to nominate your company for this most prestigious award.
Why Enter?The SMT Vision Award is a sought-after distinction, well recognized in the surface mount industry. An association with SMT and the Vision Award will earn your company a higher level of respect by both your peers and customers. Even if you do not win an SMT Vision Award this year, your company will reap additional promotional benefits just for participating.
AcceptanceWinners will be announced at the 2000 SMT Vision Awards Presentation Ceremony during the APEX Electronics Assembly Process Exhibition and Conference in San Diego, CA, January 16-18, 2001. All entrants will receive a written invitation to the Presentation Ceremony. Winners will be contacted after the Presentation Ceremony to furnish color transparencies and product releases for the winning products.
AwardsEach category winner will receive a handsome display award and the right to use the 2000 Vision Awards identity. Winners will also be featured in the Vision Awards spotlight in the Vision issue of SMT, published in December and focusing on new products and industry trends.
Entry Fee$100.00 U.S. per single entry per category.
DeadlineAll entries must be postmarked no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT, Friday, November 17, 2000.

- You will be interviewed for SMT 's 2002 Industry Forecast Article

- You will be invited to attend SMT Vision Award Ceremony
Winners
- Your industry insights will be prominently displayed in SMT 's 2002 Industry Forecast article
- You will have your product featured (color photo with product write-up) in the March issue of SMT magazine
- Your company/product will appear on the SMT Web site
- You will receive a handsome glass display award

Judging CriteriaA distinguished panel of industry experts will evaluate each submission on:
- Ability to meet a significant industry challenge
- Creative application of a new or existing technology
- Quality and consistency of performance
- Economic merit
- Throughput characteristics
- The judging process will be handled entirely by Hunter Marketing, Schaumburg, Ill. an independent market research firm not affiliated with PennWell.
Each product will be judged specifically on:
- Innovation
- Ease of use
- Cost effectiveness
- Quality contribution
- Maintainability/repairability
- Speed/throughput improvements
- Environmental responsibility
